A poor man can't afford to be cheap. I've experienced this over and over again, cheap tyres are not a bargain, ultimately just a pain in your ass. So best buy some proper tires even if it'll cost you.

I did a little test with my girlfriend's Ibiza; drove a couple of hundred kilometers on "expensive" tires and then changed them for cheap ones. The difference is huge and so clearly visible you can't miss it, even with a light car like the Ibiza.

On the cheap tires the car was way more unsettle and felt as if it would bite you if you give it some leash. The tyre-noise grew also. Those tires were of the make "Firestone", I don't recommend those to anyone.

It even surprised me how clear the difference was, I never thought there was much to it but apparently it's not just marketing.

Its value appreciates as time goes by, and that value may even increase depending on its condition and how you take care of it. Hmm, some people do restoration like Mr. Perkins, but restoring vintage vehicles like this one is quite a task because finding spare parts can be challenging.

Re: Manufacturer Trends | Citroen and VW Get You Designing Your Own Car

That's totally an unfair winning prize from VW, especially if the car ends up to be a success for their company. The least we can do is get our cars to perform efficiently so as to get the most mileage out of the petrol we buy. It would be even better if you can buy an electronic car. That's the only way to evade high oil prices. :)

Re: Think About | Getting Your Hands on a Quality Mercedes for Less Money

To own a quality Mercedes Benz at a lower cost -- that would be a big yes from me. I have always associated Mercedes Benz with luxury, and owning one would be a dream come true. I do not have any specific model in mind, but a convertible would be nice. :)

Re: Automotive Fundamentals 101 | What does Turbo mean?

Car enthusiasts have different preferences when it comes to choosing turbo engines. There are actually some who just want it simple and optimized. On the other hand, there are others who want top of the line performance. Imagine the ease of parking that thing because of its size. Driving an electric vehicle is a great concept, but perhaps not everyone's ready for it. Being cost-efficient and eco-friendly, I can see this concept being further developed and adapted globally in the years to come. In the meantime, though, there may be a few detractors who will question the feasibility of such a technology in real-world application today.

Re: On Rants of Car Owners and Petrolheads…

How about traffic? Heavy traffic that results to poor road conditions and probably the use of car insurance. I love the simple yet elegant look of the new Mercedes-Benz A-Class. You are right: from the outside, it does bring back childhood memories of the famous television series Knight Rider. Anyway, I am excited to know more about the vehicle's safety features. I will be looking forward to its debut on September 2012. :)

Re: Guest Blogger | Buying An Old Used Car

It is quite a joy when your car lasts longer than you expect it to.
